London (UK), Aug. 6 : Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar is expected to attend an event called Champions Live on the sidelines of the team''s practice match against Northamptonshire.
Sachin''s elder brother Ajit has confirmed the batting maestro''s participation in the event.
Sunil Gavaskar has witnessed three major Indian victories, namely the 1983 World Cup as a batsman, the1985 Champions Trophy as a captain and the 2011 World Cup as a commentator and mentor to the indian cricket team.
His experience in the field of cricket is unmatched and felicitating and paying tribute to such a legend is being seen as an honor by itself
Sachin Tendulkar, a legend in world cricket, has always been inspired by his father, who passed away when Sachin was playing the World Cup in England in 1999. His father was a well known poet and Sachin has always exhibited his love for his father, whenever he has reached a milestone.
It will be a fitting tribute to his father to do this event in London, which is Sachin's favourite international city.
The mega event will be showered with some musical scores of the legendary singer Kishor Kumar, by famours singer and Dr. Mahesh Patwardhan and other artists. Mahesh Manjrekar and Sachin Khedekar will be narrating the event.
The event will include a felicitation for Gavaskar, an interview with Gavaskar about his life and his cricket career, audio and video clips, the international launch of a CD of Late Ramesh Tendulkar''s poems by Gavaskar and a musical tribute to Gavaskar by Dr. Mahesh Patwardhan and other artists by performing the `Kishore Kumar' night.
The event is taking place at a time when the Indian cricket team has not fared well in the four-match Test series against England, having already gone down by two-matches to nil.
Tendulkar, who has not been in the best of form, having scored just one half century in four visits to the crease, opted out of the practice match at Northamptonshire, just four days before the Edgbaston Test. (ANI)
